Some 300 major Chinese companies will participate in the 'Made in China Exhibition' which will be hosted by Qatar from 14 to 16 December this year, said Deputy General Manager of Qatar Chamber Saleh Hamad Al Sharqi.
Speaking during a press conference today, Al Sharqi said that more than 50 percent of the exhibition's total space have already been booked and that more than 30,000 visitors are expected to visit the three-day exhibition.
The State of Qatar hosts a lot of exhibitions and foreign expos by many countries to introduce their products to the Qatari market, he said, pointing out that the unique 'Made in China Exhibition' demonstrates China's interest in Qatar as well as the need to promote Chinese products since it is a leading commercial and investment hub.
Qatar has become the focus of attention of many investors and there is a growing interest in organizing various exhibitions in all sectors in Qatar, the Deputy General Manager of Qatar Chamber added.
"We are honored to host 'Made in China Exhibition" which will shed light on the most prominent leading Chinese companies in infrastructure, technology and construction areas," Al Sahrqi said.
The Deputy General Manager of Qatar Chamber noted that a delegation representing the 50 Chinese companies will visit Doha next month in order to meet Qatari businessmen and explore investment opportunities in Qatar as well as participate in the 'Made in Qatar Exhibition'.
Addressing the press conference, Cui Bin, commercial consul and the representative of China's embassy in Qatar, said that the bilateral trade volume between Qatar and China has increased sharply from US$400 million in 2004 to US$10.6 billion in 2014, a twenty six-fold in 10 years.
"In the same time, the cooperation for project contracting also expanded a slot, by the end of last year, Chinese companies have signed more than US$8 billion project contracts in Qatar, involving civil construction, roads and bridges, ports and telecommunication, and so on," he said, adding that cooperation in the field of financial service, aviation and tourism is also processing well, which has became a new cooperation highlight. "Qatar has become one of our most important business partners in the Middle East and the Gulf region." Both China and Qatar have a profound traditional friendship, the Chinese commercial consul said. "Recent years, under the common effort for the governments and enterprises, the economic and trade cooperation between our two countries has experienced a rapid development." The Made in China Exhibition 2015 will be launched in December this year, many reputable Chinese companies and products will be showed in the exhibition, he said.
"As we know, Qatar is still expanding the project investment to fulfill the nation vision 2030 and to host the FIFA 2022 world cup, there will be many new opportunities for China-Qatar cooperation. I wish the Made in China Exhibition will be a new bridge for the mutual cooperation, offering convenience and assistance for China enterprises and product's entering into Qatar market."
