The Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque Chicago - Arabstoday The Range Rover Evoque has only been patrolling the streets since late last summer, but it seems the designers are already getting itchy pencil fingers. To satisfy the itch, Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern and his team have come up with a convertible version of the Evoque which will be displayed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. While the Geneva-bound car is initally being introduced as a concept, Land Rover say it has been engineered to pave the way for a possible production model. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept features a fully retractable soft-top roof with an integrated Roll Over Protection System (ROPS). When developing the vehicle, the designers and engineers were careful to try and preserve as much interior and cargo space as possible. Commenting on the concept, McGovern said of his creation: “The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable.”On the inside, the Evoque Convertible Concept is fitted with the same technology found in the Coupe version, including Terrain Response, surround cameras, Park Assist, an an infotainment system focused around an 8-inch dual-view touch screen monitor. The audio system comes courtesy of Meridian. The interior is trimmed in “Lunar and ivory” leather with perforated panels and contrasting stitching.John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director said of the concept: “The Evoque Convertible Concept is a new twist to the Evoque story and explores the potential to further extend the nameplate’s appeal by giving existing customers more choice, whilst at the same time reaching out to a completely new customer base. We are excited to see the response to this concept as we assess the potential for building on the Evoque’s exceptional success so far.”
