Zhong, who planted organic vegetables and fruits after retiring from army in 2006, had an idea to build the first succulent plant base of Ningbo in August of 2013. After raising money and construction, his 5-mu (about 0.33 hectare) succulent plant was finished one month later. Now there are more than one thousand kinds of succulent plants, such as kalanchoe eriophylla Hilsenb, Echeveria cv. Mebina, Echeveria agavoides and Echeveria minima, in his garden, which attract many enthusiasts and visitors.
