North Carolina writer Maureen Sherbondy has published her seventh book of poetry, Beyond Fairy Tales: Poems in Concrete & Flesh. Sherbondy, a Raleigh, North Carolina fiction writer and poet, has also been named first runner up in the Randall Jarrell Poetry Competition. In addition to many other awards, she also received the North Carolina Poetry Council’s 2013 Oscar Arnold Young Award for North Carolina’s Best Book for The Year of Dead Fathers (Spring Garden Press, Greensboro, NC). North Carolina writer Carrie Knowles describes Sherbondy’s new collection: “Bitter sweet and spot on, Beyond Fairy Tales: Poems in Concrete & Flesh are about those moments in life when the fairy dust of happy-ever-after has blown away…leaving the reader thinking about the deceit in our own dreams.” Beyond Fairy Tales is now available through Charlotte publisher Main Street Rag Publishing Company (ISBN: 978-1-59948-472-3). The book is $14.00 and can be ordered from the publisher at http://mainstreetrag.com/bookstore/product/concrete-fairy-tales/. The book will also be available at select independent booksellers.
