The Ministry of Environment is to hold tomorrow , Friday and Saturday night an entertainment festival at the ministry\'s Doha Zoo in celebration of the National Environment Day under the slogan \"Climatic Change, Common Global Challenges\". The festival, to be attended by a number of ministry officials, includes awareness and cultural events showcasing animals, birds, and reptiles housed by the zoo. It also includes environmental contests with prizes presented by the ministry. In a related development , biological researcher at the ministry Amna Sultan al-Malki has lectured students participating in Sahel Khor al-Adid camp fulfilling an invitation from the SANAD Institution for social human services. This is under the umbrella of the \"Sanad Ali al-Saif\" proceedings which aim at raising awareness in society over the importance of the environment and volunteer work. The lecture primarily discussed the concept of the environment, its definition, and its components in addition to types of pollution and their causes. At the end of the lecture, al-Malki discussed the purposes of Qatar\'s natural reserves which the authorities give great importance to. She specifically pointed to wildlife development and protecting it from extinction. Al-Malki indicated that Qatari authorities have sought to build natural reserves, most importantly al-Shahania reserve, Khor al-Adid, al-Wasil, and other land and maritime reserves.
