Hurricane Newton, since downgraded to a tropical storm

Tropical storm Newton made landfall in northwestern Mexico early Wednesday for a second time after leaving two dead in the Baja California peninsula, US forecasters said.

Downgraded from a hurricane, the storm was still packing 70-mile-an-hour (110 kilometers) winds when it roared into the Mexican mainland near Bahia Kino in the state of Sonora, the Miami-based US National Hurricane Center said.
