Eleven individuals were arrested in Algeria's western province of Sidi Bel Abbes on charges of "supporting terrorist groups," the Ministry of National Defense said Thursday in a statement carried by state news agency APS.

    "As part of the counterterrorism operations, units of the National Gendarmerie arrested, on 19 October 2016, eleven individuals supporting terrorist groups in Sidi Bel Abbes (2nd Military Region)," said the statement.

    Meanwhile, units of the coastguards thwarted an illegal migration attempt of 11 people aboard a makeshift boat in Annaba, while 14 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested in Illizi and Adrar, the ministry added.
