Head of Egyptian community in France Saleh Farhood

Head of Egyptian community in France Saleh Farhood refuted the accusations against the Egyptian citizen Abdullah Al Hamahemy accused of attacking Paris’ Louvre Museum, describing the accusation as falsified. He added, “The accused is innocent until proven guilty so we should wait the results of current investigations.”

He revealed, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that Tunisian lawyer Samia Maktood, who obtained PHD degree in combating international terrorism, decided to defend the Egyptian defendant voluntarily. He added, “The Egyptian defendant is currently in the hospital. The authorities wait the improvement of his health condition to start the investigations with him.” He expects the beginning of investigations during the coming hours.

He added that Hamahemy is currently in the hospital in a stable condition, while he cannot talk due to the increasing wounds in his body. He added that he contacted with his family in Egypt, describing them as genuine family.

He added that the Egyptian citizen is innocent, stressing that the terrorist does not need to clash with the security individuals before the museum or to carry his different documents. He added that the Egyptian defendant was carrying his passport, stressing that if he was the terrorist who committed the criminal operation, he would not carry any indications revealing his other partners.”

He added that uncertainty still dominates the case, saying that they still wait the French authorities to unload the cameras which will reveal a lot of details regarding the issue, stressing that the process will be the deciding factor in this case.

He stressed that the Egyptian community living in France refuses terrorism, expressing support for the rule of law, while he called for waiting the results of investigations not to oppress the young man and undermine his future life.

He added that he contacts with the Egyptian authorities to brief them on the case developments, saying that the Egyptian government expresses its support for the Egyptian citizen until the emergence of the truth.

Regarding the clash between the Egyptian citizen and the museum security, he said that the Egyptian citizen entered the museum, while a police officer attempted to suspend him calling him in French to stop, while Hamahemy did not understand his language. He added that the French officer clashed with him, while another one shot him, as he was thinking that the Egyptian man was quarreling with his colleague.
