Serik Sapiyev of Kazakhstan won the Olympic gold medal Sunday in the welterweight boxing class. In the championship bout, Sapiyev recorded a 17-9 decision over silver medalist Freddie Evans of Britain. The bronze medals went to Taras Shelestyuk of Ukraine and Andrey Zamkovoy of Russia.
