Dutch football coach Guus Hiddink says he’s so happy at Aznhi Makhachkala that he's considering an extension of his one-and-a-half-year deal with Russia’s richest club.
"We’re going to discuss this in June,” Hiddink told Sport-Express newspaper. “But I can say that I like the way the club is developing and the professional attitude here. I also can’t help but acknowledge the excellent atmosphere in the team. Plus we have similar ideas in terms of the club's future.”
Anzhi owner Suleyman Kerimov is also satisfied with Hiddink’s work at the club. The Makhachkala side have already guaranteed themselves a spot in the Europa League next season and – if luck ends up on their side – they may even snatch a Champions League ticket.
The team from Dagestan need to beat champions Zenit on the Russian Premier League's final match day, and hope for Spartak, CSKA and Dynamo to suffer defeats to finish the season in second place.
"The extension of my relations with Anzhi is a very promising option for me,” the 65-year-old added. “If we find common ground with the club’s administration – everything will be fine.”
By signing the contract, Hiddink became one of the most well-paid coaches on the planet, with an annual salary of more than $11 million.
