Luke Campbell of Britain highlighted the first two nights of Olympic championship boxing Saturday with a gold medal in the bantamweight division. It was the 28th gold medal of the Olympics for British competitors, nine more than Britain has won in any other Games during the modern era. Campbell defeated Ireland\'s John Joe Nevin in the title bout 14-11 to become one of five champions crowned Saturday. The five title bouts were won by boxers from five countries. China\'s Zou Shiming opened the evening with a 13-10 decision over Kaeo Pongprayoon of Thailand. It was the only medal earned in boxing at the Olympics for the Chinese after they won four of them at the Beijing Games. Roniel Iglesias Sotolongo of Cuba outslugged Denys Berinchyk of Ukraine 22-15 to win the light-welterweight class. Cuba has a chance to win a second gold medal in the flyweight division Sunday. Ryota Murata of Japan posted a narrow 14-13 victory over Esquiva Falcoa Florentino of Brazil in the middleweight class, and Ukraine\'s Oleksandr Usyk finished the night by downing Clemento Russo of Italy 14-11 in the heavyweight division. No American male boxer made it to the semifinal round of the Olympic tournament.
