Psychological and educational expert Razan Adel Al-Hujairi said that the main motivation of the abuse of drugs is the curiosity to try new things which provide temporary pleasure and helps people to forget about their problems.

She added in an interview with Arabs Today that the abuse of drugs reflects poor mental health and the feeling of alienation instead of belonging, noting that it does not differ than psychological and personality disorders, such as psychological illness and aggressive behavior.

Al-Hujairi said that many drug addicts engage in the crime of selling drugs to secure their needs of drugs. The drug addiction leads to a change in mental status and mood of the addict, which leads him to unleash desires so he commits crimes without any hesitation. They engage in this trade also to secure their urgent needs.

Al-Hujairi added that the addict may become aggressive inside and outside family, for example, the addict may force his wife and children tp secure financial resource.
