Iraqi MP Safia Al-Suhail

Iraqi MP Safia Al-Suhail Baghdad - Jaafar Nassrawi Not understanding the true foundation of a state based on national and citizen's interest destabilises a the country's political situation, according to independent Iraqi parliament member Safia Al-Suhail. In her interview with 'Arabstoday', Al-Suhail called on Iraqi politicians to work on spreading the concept of a democratic state. "Political leaders shall step up and start effective talks to escape this crisis," she said. Al-Suhail also warned of “further regional and international interventions" if political differences between factions lasted. The Iraqi politician said that leaders of political parties were responsible for the intervention of neighbouring countries in Iraq's affairs. "This showed disrespect towards the will and choices of Iraqi people. Those leaders opened the door to conflicting regional and international agendas in our country because of their desire for power." she then demanded political personnel stop harsh dialogue against each other for "the sake of Iraq". "Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statements of warnings for Iraq, and the commander of Iran's Qods Force Qassem Soleimani’s ambitions in Iraq should not be answered by statements of condemnation, rejection and requests for clarification. Political leadership must abolish conflict among them for the dangers facing Iraq.”
