A gunman opened fire on an outdoor country music concert near Mandalay Bay late on Sunday, killing at least 58 people, injuring more than 400 and sending the Las Vegas Strip into chaos.
One suspect, a Las Vegas man, was killed by police on a high-level hotel floor at Mandalay Bay, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said at a 1:35 am. briefing, Las Vegas Review Journal reported.
Lombardo did not provide the man’s name. He said police were looking for Marilou Danley, a woman traveling with the suspect. She was described as Asian and 4-foot-11.
Police also were seeking two vehicles with Nevada license plates.
The attack came during the last performances on the final night of the three-day Route 91 country music festival, which has been held for the past four years on a 15-acre lot on Las Vegas Boulevard across from Mandalay Bay.
Automatic gunfire rang out while Jason Aldean was onstage.
Concertgoer Ivetta Saldana, who was there with a friend, said the shots sounded like fireworks.
She said she hid in a sewer.
“It was a horror show,” she said, quoted bt the Review Journal. “People were standing around, then they hit the floor.”
One responding officer was critically injured, and another had minor injuries, police said.
ABC News later identified the gunman as a 64-year-old white male
