Vehicles carrying electronic security gates arrived a while ago at Lions' Gate of Al Aqsa Mosque, eyewitnesses told MENA on Sunday.

Israeli officers also stormed the mosque’s yards under the protection of Israeli police, the eyewitnesses said, pointing out that dozens of Israeli Border Police were deployed inside the Haram esh-Sharif.

On Friday, a shooting incident in the Old City of Al Quds left at least three Palestinians dead and others injured.

Following the shooting, the Israeli police declared that Friday's prayers would not be held at the holy site. The authorities also prevented any Palestinian officials or Muslim worshipers from entering the mosque.

Israeli authorities seized the keys of all the mosque’s internal and external gates from Al Quds Awqaf Council, eyewitnesses said. They added that the Israeli authorities sent earlier in the day seven garbage trucks and a number of Jewish cleaners, asserting that this incident is considered the first of its kind since Israeli occupation to Aqsa Mosque in 1967.
