Ali Abdullah Saleh

Yemeni General People's Congress Party General Committee and coalition parties, led by ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh, held on Saturday a meeting to discuss the latest political developments especially the formation of a new government.
The parties reiterated the importance of committing to peace and partnership deal in order to surpass the current crisis and reach a political settlement in Libya.
In a press release, the political bloc asserted its commitment to the deal that was signed earlier with Yemeni president and prime minister-designate although the deal undermines General People's Congress according to the Gulf initiative.
Earlier, Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's political party, the General People's Congress, signed the agreement along with Houthi rebels, in the presence of UN Special Envoy Jamal Benomar.
The statement said if other political parties insisted on their plots concerning the formation of the government, the General People's Congress and its allies would approve authorizing Yemeni president and prime minister-designate to form a government of technocrats although that means that the government would be weak because of the lack of political support.
