Suez security bodies stepped up their presence in main squares, around governmental institutions and ports, and the southern entrance of the Suez Canal on Friday.
Police forces have been patrolling all the streets to protect the citizens, Suez security chief Tareq el-Gazzar said.
A number of hardened criminals and drug dealers have been arrested and firearms have been seized in the past few days, he said.
