President Adel Fattah El Sisi decreed Thursday commissioning the minister of defense and military production with the competences of the president of the republic in line with the articles of public mobilization law no. 87 of 1960 for one year starting in November 2014.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said the decision was usually renewed annually when necessary.
According to the spokesman, the minister of defense will have the right to issue assignments dealing with the performance of the armed forces.
