Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Monday a joint delegation of the Egyptian-Sudanese foreign affairs councils.
The meeting discussed the deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and Sudan and ways to promote them, said the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Shoukry stressed during the meeting that the leaderships of the two countries were keen on boosting the ties to serve their interests.
Several proposals and ideas for cementing the relations were mulled at the meeting including an initiative on forming an association for the ambassadors of the Nile valley region, said the spokesman, adding that Shoukry welcomed the initiative.
The FM asserted the importance of NGOs in efforts to promote bilateral relations.
The visit of the Sudanese delegation to Egypt was hailed by the spokesman, who lauded also remarkable leap that relations has witnessed.
