A short circuit in the North Cairo Mills and Bakeries Company led to an explosion in Shobra el Kheima district on Tuesday, said an official with the Interior Ministry's security media center.

In a released statement, he added that the explosion took place during maintenance operations in the basement of the company's wheat storage room.

Criminal experts rushed to the scene for inspection and all legal measures were taken, he added.
