Sappers on Saturday defused an explosive device in Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai, security sources said.
No casualties or damage took place, the sources said.
The explosive charge was planted to target security forces, they added.
The bomb squad is combing the area in search for any more hidden explosives.
