Prefect of Djelfa, Abdelkader Djellaoui, gave Thursday an outline about his province’s prospects for development, during an appraisal meeting held at the headquarters of Interior Ministry.
The meeting, part of a series of appraisal meetings with prefects was chaired by the Interior Ministry’s secretary general Ahmed Adli, and executives from the ministry and the province of Djelfa (275 km south of Algiers).
This meeting of "consultation" between the central and the local administration allowed sharing views and having a "clearer vision" about the local development, said Djellaoui in a statement to the press.
"We have the opportunity to present some problems we have managed to solve locally," he said while noting that the approach undertaken at the local level in terms of city management is based on communication, transparency and the involvement of the civil society and locally elected representatives.
"The meeting has also enabled us to give evaluation and receive orientations to review the mechanisms, the methods and the approach to adopt in terms of local development," he said.
He reminded that the province of Djelfa is a steppic region with great agricultural and breeding potential and offers singular specificities, underlining that the meeting helped to focus on some industries.
Moreover, Djellaoui said that the Djelfa benefited from "important" means to improve the citizens’ life conditions, insisting on the need to take into consideration the preoccupations of the population.
"We will continue to take into account the population concerns, to improve its life condition and increase the availability of the administration," the prefect stressed.
