Cairo - MENA
A police officer who was killed in a Cairo blast on Sunday was not the target of the perpetrators, said official sources to MENA on Monday.
The officer, identified as Mohamed Abu Sarei, had served at Jail 2, outside Cairo, where a prison break occurred during the January 25 revolution involving ousted president Mohamed Morsy, said the sources.
Abu Sarei was summoned to testify in the case of Morsy as the prison, Leman 430, where he was serving was also stormed during the uprising, added the sources.
He had nothing to do with the escape of Morsy, said the sources.
