Fayyoum police foiled on Friday an attempt by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group to block a tourist road here.
MB members set fire to tires in an attempt to block the road leading to Lake Moeris.
Riot police rushed to the scene and pursued the rioters.
Traffic returned to normal after fire fighters put out the flames on the tires.
