General Secretariat of the Higher Council for Planning and Development said Wednesday that their meetings, which are continuing since last September, with over 51 government agencies was to assess the implementation phase of the country's development plan, noting that all meetings were on leadership level.
The Secretariat, in a statement, said that these meetings were designed to assess the government implementation phases and statuses for the previous development plan for projects, which dates back to 2010-11 until 2013-14.
The statement quoted the Secretary General of the General Secretariat for Planning Engineer Hashim Al-Rifaie as saying that the total number of projects in the previous development plan reached 1,603 projects with a sum allocation for it totaling KD 22.6 billion, noting that the amount spent so far has reached KD 11.8 billion, a 52.2-percent from the total amount allocated.
Al-Rifaie stressed that these meetings were of the most important carried out by the General Secretariat to re-evaluate the previous period for government projects, and to stand on constraints facing these projects, including the capability of authorities to implement them.
He noted that the Secretariat is keen to monitor the government's commitment to implement the second development plan and to measure its institutional performance.
