The Peshmerga forces announced the liberation of one of the regions of Makhmur in Nineveh province from the oppression of so-called terrorist gangs of the Islamic State (IS).
The website of the PUK quoted an official in the PUK as saying that "the Peshmerga forces launched in the early hours on Sunday 24, August an attack on Qaraj sub-district affiliated to Makhmur and managed to free it from the terrorists of the (IS)."
He added that "the Peshmerga forces in the continuous progress to liberate other parts of from these terrorist groups," pointing out that "preliminary information indicates the fall of a large number of dead and wounded among the terrorist organization" .
