Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani said that recognizing women's role in the society is crucial for progress and development.
This was expressed in his speech at the inaugural session of the fifth ministerial meeting on Women of the OIC in Baku, Azerbaijan. The speech was read out on behalf of the OIC chief by OIC Assistant Secretary General Naeem Khan, according to a statement issued by the OIC.
Madani said that no development or progress could be achieved without empowering women.
He further called for setting a strategy to empower women.
