Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab discussed on the phone with ministers of housing and urban development the proposed plan to develop slums in down town Cairo, known as Maspero Triangle.
The premier underlined the importance of upgrading the area through collaboration between the government, residents and investors.
Maspero Triangle stands on 74 feddans of land and is home to at least 18,000 residents.
The triangle occupies a central location overlooking the Nile Corniche in central Cairo.
