General National Congress (GNC)

 A member of the Libyan parliament said authorizing a prime minister for the national rescue government by the interim General National Congress (GNC) puts Libya under a threat of division.
The parliament does not consider the GNC as a political entity, the lawmaker said in statements carried by "Libya TV" Channel.
Libya's outgoing parliament, the General National Congress (GNC), has appointed a new prime minister in a move set to deepen the country's political split as warring factions vie for control of the country.
The GNC reconvened unilaterally on Monday in Tripoli and elected Islamist-backed Omar al-Hassi, a lecturer in political science at the University of Benghazi, as prime minister
