Tripoli - MENA
The Libyan army is achieving big victories in all combat areas in Benghazi and Tripoli, a spokesman for the chief of staff said Tuesday.
Troops are advancing with the help of Benghazi's youth and residents, Col. Ahmed al-Mesmary told MENA, adding the army is now in control of big swaths of the eastern Libyan city days after it attacked Ansar al-Sharia militants.
The army is also making steady steps in the fighting against Ansar al-Sharia in western Tripoli, Mesmary said.
Troops are slowly and cautiously advancing in Tripoli because the fighting is taking place over an area of 200 kilometers, he added.
