Beirut - KUNA
The Lebanese Army on Thursday clashed with gunmen trying to infiltrate the area of Arsal, eastern Lebanon, media sources said.
The army arrested around 22 people suspected of belonging to terrorist organizations and about 36 people for entering Lebanese territory illegally, the source added.
Lebanese troops engaged in a brief armed clash with the infiltrators, where they used artillery shells, and flare bombs.
The militant tried to sneak over Arsal again last month, but they were confronted by the army and security forces. Clashes occurred and left dozens of dead and injured among the two sides in addition to kidnapping a number of soldiers.
