Foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra held discussion Sunday, in Cairo, with the Arab League’s Secretary General Nabil Al-Arabi, on efforts for the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
During the discussions, the two sides examined the current situation in the Arab world, mainly the Israeli aggression on the Gaza strip, the efforts for its immediate cessation as well as ways to mitigate the Palestinian people’s sufferings through humanitarian aids and relief, a statement from the ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
 “The developments of the situation in Libya, Iraq and Syria were also amongst the debated issues,” added the source.
The meeting also focused on the “course of the inter-Arab action and the issues mentioned on the agenda of the next session of the Arab League Council at the level of Foreign Affairs ministers, scheduled on September 7th in Cairo in addition to the reform of the Pan-Arab organization.”
Lamamra underlined, in this context, the need to relaunch reinforce the joint Arab action, as well as the reform of the Arab League, which became a necessity considering the current situation in the Arab World.”
The inter-Arab action, he added, “reflects a renewed solidarity to effectively face the dangers and achieve the aspirations of the Arab people.”
Lamamra is currently is Cairo to take part in the meeting of the Foreign ministers of Libya’s neighbouring countries.
