The Cabinet, at its weekly session held on Sunday, approved a draft law for juvenile welfare and forwarded it to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for referring it to the National Assembly.
The approval came after the Cabinet was briefed with recommendations of the legal affairs committee tasked with reviewing discrepancies of the three-decade old law.
Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Justice Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, reading a statement following the session chaired by His Highness the Premier Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said that the Cabinet was also briefed with the letter received by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam, which dealt with good bilateral relations and means to develop them on all levels.
The Cabinet was also notified with the forming of a delegation to accompany His Highness the Premier to the United Kingdom and United States; starting tomorrow (Monday). The delegation is to include First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Justice Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
The Cabinet then discussed a report by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development on the 'legislative' status for priorities' agenda for the two branches; executive and legislative, as well as laws being currently examined by parliamentary committees.
Latest regional and international political affairs and developments were also discussed during the session.
