A State Security Court's panel held a public hearing on Sunday, beginning to try six suspects, including two still at large, who are accused of smuggling in, possessing and trading in a narcotic substance. The court will hear the prosecution's witnesses next week.
According to the charge sheet, the six defendants face charges of smuggling in a narcotic substance with the intent of trading while being in cahoots with international gangs.
The defendants from number one till number five were charged with trading in narcotic substance in complicity with international gangs, while defendants from number two till number five were accused of being in possession of a narcotic substance for the purpose of trading. The fourth and fifth were charged with possessing a narcotic substance with the intent of abusing it.
Security forces arrested the suspects in May. There are 17 prosecution witnesses in this case.
