Jordan and Bahrain discussed on Thursday ways to bolster cooperation in the parliamentary domains as well as issues of mutual concern.
During a meeting between Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Senate Samir Rifai and visiting Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Bahraini Shoura Council Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalifa, the two sides underlined the importance of fighting terrorism and terrorist organizations.
These organizations, they affirmed, don’t represent Islam and its teachings, noting that they violate the basic principles of human rights.
Rifai affirmed that Jordan’s participation in the war against the Islamic State (IS) is self-defense.
Further, the senator highlighted the fallout of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which is hosting hundreds of thousands of refugees, who exert pressure on the Kingdom’s already limited resources.
The visiting lawmaker, meanwhile, valued Jordan’s stances towards various issues, mainly the Palestinian cause.
