Elections committees in Bahrain

The High Elections Committee said that the allegations made by the so-called Sayed Jameel Kadhim on the existence of violations that affect the fairness of the electoral process and that funds are paid to candidates in some specific constituencies are not just opinions but serious claims that directly affect the integrity and procedures of the electoral process, as well as candidates.
In a statement issued today, the committee said that Sayed Jameel Kadhim failed to meet the week deadline set for him to provide evidence of his allegations.
He not only failed to submit evidence that would support his allegations, but also carried on his claims and announced publicly that he had documents and details of what he had called "political money" and pledged to reveal them in the appropriate time, the statement added.
The committee said that a person had made similar claims in 2010, but withdrew his statement when he failed the provide evidence.
The panel pointed out that since making such claims and failing to support them with compelling evidence will affect the integrity of the electoral process and disrupt its procedures, the issue will be referred to the Public Prosecution, and the so-called Jameel Kadhim has to submit his documents to the Judiciary.
