Sanaa - KUNA
GCC Secretary General Abdullateef Al-Zayani has reaffirmed the firm support of Arab Gulf countries to Yemen's efforts to end political stalemate in the country.
The Gulf Cooperation Council and the international community reject any act outside the context of Yemeni President Abdrabou Mansour Hadi's initiative, which he announced earlier on Tuesday to defuse the political crisis in the country, Al-Zayani was quoted by the official SABA news agency as saying during a phone call with Hadi.
Al-Zayani said the GCC and the international community were following with great interest all endeavors to address the political crisis in Yemen.
In his initiative, Hadi suggested forming a national unity government, including all political forces, to ensure efficiency, transparency and national partnership.
It, however, gives the president the right to appoint ministers of defense, interior, foreign affairs and finance.
Hadi also said that a new government must reconsider and introduce reforms to monetary, economic and political policies.
The initiative called on Houthis to put an end to their protests and sit-ins in and outside the capital and to help the government control all governorates including Amran Governorate.
It urged Houthis to accept and participate in the upcoming national government.
