The participants of an Egypt-hosted Gaza reconstruction conference has voiced support for an initiative floated by Egypt to reach a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In a communique, the participants voiced support for all efforts that may lead to a permanent ceasefire between both sides.
They also expressed their readiness to strengthen the foundations of ceasefire by mobilizing international support for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip as part of long-term plan to develop the Palestinian territories.
The attendees welcomed steps taken by the Palestinian government to reinstate its powers in the Gaza Strip, praising Egypt's role in realizing the Palestinian reconciliation.
There is a need for providing $ 414 million dollars for humanitarian relief and $ 1.2 million for backing the Palestinian economy along with $ 2.4 billion for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, said the statement.
The participants approved a plan floated by the Palestinian authority for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
They called for providing financial support for the West Bank, calling on the Israeli government to open border crossings to facilitate trade between Gaza and the West Bank.
They also called both parties to refrain from taking any unilateral actions that may undermine peace negotiations.
