The first group of Hajjis arrived Thursday in the early morning at Ahmed Ben Bella International Airport in Oran from the Holy Places of Islam.
The reception of 260 pilgrims from several provinces of the west and southwest of the country, took place in good conditions, in the presence of borders police services, and about sixty volunteers agents from the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA), the Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA) and other members of the El Wouroud association who properly assured adequate care for the first group of hajjis.
"Apart from a few cases of seasonal flu, no suspect of Coronavirus or Ebola cases have been recorded," Hassan Ibrahim, Head of health checks at borders told APS at Oran airport, adding that three specialized medical teams have been set up to check, as a preventive measure, potential patients with cameras and heat guns.
"We are vigilant to avoid any possible risk of disease," he stated.
Pilgrims, who have completed their Hajj, said they had no problems during their stay in the Holy Places of Islam. "Our Hajj took place without any difficulty in s Mecca and Medina," affirmed Belagraa Hadj Bachir, from Abtal El Oued, located in the province of Mascara.
"Everything went normally. Besides the welcome from the Saudi authorities, housing conditions were ideal. Apart from a few minor problems, which were quickly resolved, the Algerian mission performed a managerial work worth to be hailed,"said Hadj Yahia Bensalama from Sfisef.
