Fierce clashes have erupted between Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and the terrorist group of Daesh at the entrance of ِAl-Hamdaniya district in Nineveh province, state-run Iraqi news agency reported.
Peshmerga fighters used various heavy and light weapons during the clashes, a well-placed Iraqi source said.
The Kurdish forces were backed by US air strikes in order to recapture the Christian-dominated district of Al-Hamdaniya, the source added.
Several Daesh militants were killed during the clashes, he added.
