Cairo - MENA
Egypt has called on all Libyan militants to ceasefire and evacuate governmental buildings, and allow the legitimate authorities, represented in Prime Minister Abdallah el-Thinni, to carry out their functions.
"The current deteriorating military and security situation in Libya prompts a decisive and urgent action by activating the UN Security Council's resolution 2174 (2014), which calls for immediate ceasefire in Libya, and an inclusive political dialogue," the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The ministry called on all the Libyan factions to engage in an inclusive political dialogue and lay down their arms according to the initiative floated at Libya's neighbors' conference in Cairo.
Earlier in the day, Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Arab League Special Envoy to Libya Nasser al-Qudwa on the latest developments in the North African Arab country.
