The Azhar Senior Scholars Authority said Sunday Daesh and other terrorist groups do not represent Islam.
In a statement, the authority added those terrorists are outside the true religion and the teachings of Islam.
Islamic state in the present circumstances is the modern, constitutional and democratic national state, as Al-Azhar previously announced in its documents, the statement said.
The media should not describe those terrorists as the "Islamic State", because that is an extreme insult to Islam and Muslims, the statement added.
