Minister for Human Rights, Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, has received Human Rights Office' Director at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s Secretariat, Mudhi bin Mutairan Al-A'rdi, and the accompanying delegation.
Human Rights Minister praised the GCC Secretariat's agenda, which translates the Gulf leadership's keenness on applying human rights principles and methodology derived from Islamic law, humanitarian principles and international conventions.
The minister underlined the Secretariat active role in raising awareness and disseminating human rights culture through a comprehensive action plan targeting all Gulf people. He pointed out that the current stage requires to intensify joint action among Gulf citizens to contribute to the protection of Gulf gains and achievements.
He discussed Bahrain's proposal on the establishment of GCC Supreme Committee for Human Rights within the Gulf Cooperation Council, which aims to improve the human rights work and develop its mechanisms. The committee will also assist in strengthening coordination of GCC human rights efforts in various regional and international.
Al-A'rdi commended the Human Rights Ministry's role in carrying out national tasks. He highlighted aspiration to reinforce cooperation with the Human Rights Ministry in regard to human rights issues.
