Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the Chairman of the Arab Human Rights Committee (AHRC) Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami, currently on a visit to the Kingdom to take part in a workshop on the Arab Human Rights Charter and AHRC's work mechanisms.
During the meeting, attended by the Minister of State for Human Rights Affairs Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, the Deputy Premier praised the "crucial" and "vital" role played by the Arab Human Rights Committee, and thanked the panel for its "effective" participation in the workshop, hosted by the kingdom.
He underlined Bahrain's strong interest in consolidating and protecting human rights principles according to international standards, praising its landmark strides in this regard.
Dr. Al-Yami lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's initiative to establish an Arab Human Rights Court.
He also praised Bahrain as the first country to ratify the Arab Human Rights Charter and submit its first national report in 2013.
He also hailed the kingdom's milestone human rights achievements attained thanks to its wise leadership, initiatives, projects and various human rights institutions.
