Al-Azhar has expressed deep concern over the closure of Al-Aqsa mosque in al-Quds (East Jerusalem).
This measure is unprecedented by the Israeli authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.
This escalation is against all international norms and religious principles, Al-Azhar said in a statement on Thursday.
Al-Azhar called upon all international parties to bear responsibility towards protecting the holy places in al-Quds.
