The military forces and the sons of the tribes foiled an attack carried out by elements of the Islamic State (IS) on Haditha district, west of Anbar.
A security source told the reporter of the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: "The elements of the (IS) attacked the northern and eastern regions of Haditha, using mortars and medium and light weapons."
He added: "The army forces, in cooperation with the sons of the tribes, responded to the attack and clashed with the attackers."
He explained: "The clashes resulted in the killing of 5 militants and burning 3 vehicles, while the rest fled."
He stressed that the army imposed full control over the two regions.
