Border guards intensified measures to secure the state borders from all strategic directions and aborted several attempts to smuggle commodities and infiltrate the frontiers.
The week-long campaign led to destroying dozens of new smuggling tunnels in Rafah and seizing a pick-up truck loaded with 12 kilograms of bango in el-Qantara Sharq area, Military Spokesman Mohamed Samir said Monday.
Four Land Cruiser vehicles carrying four Egyptians were seized while carrying out smuggling acts in northeastern Siwa and el-Ragm el-Kabir areas on the Egyptian-Libyan borders.
