Secretary General for Palestinian Affairs Mohammad Subeih

Arab League on Monday congratulated Egyptian leadership and people on the 41st anniversary of the 6th of October 1973 war victory on Israel occupation forces.
In a press statement on this occasion, the Assistant Secretary General for Palestinian Affairs Mohammad Subeih underlined the need for restoring the spirit of Arab unity which dominated war time.
He also called for greater Arab cooperation not only in the military domain but also in economy and development.
On October 6, 1973, the Egyptian Armed Forces mounted a surprise coordinated attack with Syrian Armed Forces against the Israeli army stationed in Sinai and the Golan Heights.
As a result, Egypt regained full sovereignty over the Suez Canal and was able to recover part of Sinai. The October victory paved the way to the Camp David Treaty in September 1978 which to Israel's withdrawal from Sinai Peninsula.
