Cairo - MENA
Former Arab League chief Amr Moussa criticized the calls for dividing Iraq into independent Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish regions.
He added that any calls for a federalized Iraq on sectarian and ethnic basis would hurt all parties, and would further lead to a wide scale sectarian war.
Moussa agreed that the Arab region needs a new system which should be discussed without any foreign interventions.
On Monday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Massoud Barzani, said that the division of Iraq into three separate federal regions is the optimal solution for resolving Iraq’s political challenges.
