Algeria, as a neighbouring country, is willing to help Libya to take the path of salvation and to rebuild its institutions, affirmed Thursday in New York Foreign Affairs Minister Ramtane Lamamra.
“We hope that our Libyan brothers will get over this ordeal. For us Libya is going through difficult times of its history and it is certainly not a failed State. It is a country in difficulties, sufficiently endowed with wisdom, competencies and resources to overcome it,” said the minister in a high-level meeting on Libya, held on the sidelines of the 69th ordinary session of the United Nations (UN)General Assembly at the initiative of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
“As a neighbour, we are at their disposal to help them take the path of salvation,” he underlined.
During this meeting, Ramtane Lamamra said that “following the numerous requests he received from different Libyan personalities and political forces, President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika decided to launch an initiative to initiate a national inclusive dialogue in Libya leading to national reconciliation and consolidation of the Libyan institutions.”
In this regard, he said that the “preparatory consultations are underway, including with the Chamber of representatives, a delegation of which was invited to come to Algeria in the next few days.”
